Facing everyday life from a playful and reflective perspective at the same time is the backbone of this project "Towers". Why do we keep certain things after having served its purpose as objects? What explains this privilege? The objects themselves do not carry a specific symbolism, but the symbolic value is given by the full context surrounding the object, ie, all the experiences, emotions, memories and contingencies attached to them. The situation becomes interesting when these objects, decontextualized and recontextualized, in other words, living in unique settings they start a dialogue complementing and rejecting each other.
The arrangement of these objects reflects a casual or merely practical hierarchy, however, it is a reflection of how a social group is constructed using a (usually vertical) hierarchy. The totem always performs as order, law and symbol around which a family or clan is constructed, and eventually a civilization. This sort of totemic sculptures or towers gather all these ideas in a volatile situation that only photography can capture before its collapse. The scenario can be none but the home environment itself which, serving as inseparable background of these objects, enforces their meaning and together they produce unique family portraits.
